Audi TT Performance Portfolio |
|
In the USA, where technical information on products has to be more freely available, Robert Bentley Publishing has been given the task of producing workshop manuals which are virtually reprints of the official factory manuals. They are big expensive books, but the amount of detail is unrivalled. Bear in mind that they are biased towards the US-market cars, but they are often the only detailed sources of information on quattros and the turbocharged engines. Despite their size, all have soft covers.

The Audi quattro Experence. Early quattro, road-going quattro, Sport quattro: all are shown in amazing rally, roadside, in-car and aerial action. Walter Rohrl demonstrates and describes, with the help of in-car cameras, a driving style beyond mere mortals. The quattro systems are explained and road going developments are covered. But best of all is the fabulous and unique film record of a car that swept all before it in Group B rallying- now banned for going to fast. AS 06 |

Quattro Racing in the USA. In 1987 Audi decided that Group B international rallying had become too fast for its own good – or for the good of the spectators thronging madly on the track. So in 1988 Audi introduced the 200 quattro to US Production Car racing, winning both maker’s and driver’s first places in its very first year. In 1989 the very special racing version of a 90 quattro was an out-and-out competition car, with the sport engine developed to reach a heady 620 bph. The result was a car with a staggering track performance. AS 07 |
