Side sill extensions, a rear diffuser, chrome tailpipes on either side and smoked LED tail-lights complete the look. Standard wheels are 17-inch ‘Monza’ alloys.
The electrically-powered fabric roof can be folded away in just 9.5 seconds, even while travelling at speeds of up to 18 mph, and the GTI Cabriolet comes with automatically deploying rollover protection, front and side head/thorax airbags and a driver’s knee airbag as standard.
Inside are four individual seats, covered in the classic tartan ‘Jacara’ cloth upholstery. ‘Vienna’ leather upholstery is an option. The multifunction steering wheel, handbrake and gearlever gaiter are all leather-trimmed and finished with contrasting red stitching. There are black ‘Edge’ decorative inlays on the doors and facia, and the hood lining and roof pillar trims are all finished in black.
The Golf GTI Cabriolet goes on sale in the UK later this year. For more details, see the April issue of Volkswagen Driver magazine. |
