Gilham claims VW Racing Cup
 
Tony Gilham is the 2007 Volkswagen Racing Cup Champion, after finishing fifth in the penultimate round at Rockingham on Saturday Sept 29.
 
With his closest points challenger, Joe Fulbrook, sidelined with mechanical problems, Gilham maintained his perfect finishing record as the only driver to have scored in all rounds, including twin wins at Silverstone in August.
 
Gilham¹s Regal Autosport-sponsored Mk 5 GTI was suffering turbo problems throughout both races at Rockingham (he finished 7th in the final round on Sunday) but he still ended the season a worthy champion with a 42-point advantage over his closest rival, Steve Wood (Golf GTI). Joe Fulbrook, driving a Bora 1.8T, takes third overall.
