Volkswagen has released the first pictures of the production version of the Tiguan, the new compact 4x4 SUV which will go on sale in the UK in February 2008, following a world public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. 

Slightly larger than the Touran, the Tiguan has a more purposeful appearance, echoing that of the Touareg, with raised suspension, large
tyres and other 4x4 styling cues.

For the UK, the Tiguan will initially be available with a 140 PS 2.0 TDI diesel or a 150 PS 1.4-litre TSI petrol unit, with a 170 PS TDI and two further petrol engines to follow in 2008.

S, SE and Sport models will be offered, all with 4MOTION four-wheel drive, with UK pricing expected to start at around £19,000 when order books open in November. For further details check out www.volkswagen.co.uk/tiguan
