RaVe 270

The recent Essen Motor Show saw the debut of the RaVe 270 design study, a
high-powered Golf Estate with a tuned 2.0 turbo TSI unit, developing 270 PS
at 6000 rpm and over 350 Nm torque between 3000 and 5000 rpm.

Combined with the DSG transmission and four-wheel drive system from the Golf
R32, it can sprint to 62 mph (0-100 kph) in well under six seconds and has a
(limited) top speed of 155 mph, while still being capable of just over 30
mpg.

Developed by Volkswagen Individual GmbH, the RaVe 270 also features a
stylish bodywork conversion, lowered suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels and
Brembo brakes, and a powerful 1400 Watt high-end sound system based around
the new RNS 510 radionavigation system, with a total of 13 loudspeakers,
producing what Volkswagen describes as a Odistinctly palpable 'sound'.

See the January issue of Volkswagen Driver (on sale Dec 19) for a full report.
