Volkswagen and Audi track day
Saturday July 24 -
Castle Combe, Wiltshire
The annual VW and Audi track day was a great
success, with over 100 drivers signing up for fast-lapping sessions and a
great many clubs putting on displays, with several taking part in
dedicated club track sessions.
Trade presence included Milltek Sport, running their Golf R, TTRS and
Scirocco, driven by BTCC racer Shaun Hollamby, along with demo drives by
Grant Motorsport, Turner Race Developments, KJM Services and West Tuning.
Several other traders and autojumblers were selling everything from
clocks to canvas prints, and there was even a film crew on site,
capturing footage
for a forthcoming series on Sky TV!
Particularly popular, as always, was the lunchtime parade lap where
families with young children could drive around the circuit at relatively
low speed, enjoyed by over 40 entrants.
Over 20 top-quality cars also took part in the
Show 'n' Shine, sponsored
by AutoGlym, with the most votes going to Adam Hodge from Swanage for his
Bora.Runner-up was Adam Senington from Bristol with his Audi S3, while
third place went to Ray Partner from Bracknell with his Mk 2 Golf GTI
16V.
A full photo report will be published in the September issue of
Volkswagen Driver magazine, on sale from August 18.
As usual, official circuit photographer Jim Gaisford was taking photos of
all the cars on track, as well as the lunchtime parade.
